About Tom

A unique and successful blend of two worlds, Tom Zender is both a seasoned business executive and a recognized spiritual leader. His broad experience in the business world includes management positions in major American corporations that include General Electric, Honeywell and ITT. He held senior vice president positions in NYSE and NASDAQ corporations and served as CEO in venture start-up companies. An experienced speaker, Tom travels to numerous countries presenting to audiences ranging up to 1,500 attendees.

Tom Zender is President Emeritus of Unity having served for six years as its CEO. Unity is a $35 million nonprofit organization for interfaith spiritual publishing, education, prayer and events. Unity serves over 3 million members as a trans-denominational spiritual institution. Tom’s additional experience in spiritual leadership includes an affiliation with Harvard University's Abraham Path Initiative - an interfaith dialogue and economic development initiative in Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Palestine and Israel.

Previously, Tom Zender has been on the boards of publicly held technology corporations including Peerless Systems and SAMSys Technologies, NASDAQ- and Toronto Stock Exchange-listed corporations. He is currently chairman of the board of VillageEDOCS, an OTC-listed rapid-growth technology corporation – one of the fastest growing U.S. technology companies ranked by Deloitte. Tom has also served on the boards of nonprofit organizations, including Ottawa University and the Forum for Corporate Directors. He currently serves on the boards of the Association for Global New Thought and the Evolutionary Leaders.

A founding member since its inception in 2008, Tom Zender is an active member of the Evolutionary Leaders, a gathering of global visionaries. The group includes well-known spiritual authors Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson, Jean Houston, Barbara Marx Hubbard, Gregg Braden, Lynne McTaggart, Bruce Lipton and others, in addition to several successful business people, researchers and scientists.

The movement fully supports the belief that the future is no longer what happens to us, but rather what we create. Its Call to Conscious Evolution initiative includes raising corporate consciousness for business integrity, conscious commerce and economic peace. Tom represented the Association for Global New Thought and Unity at the 2004 World Parliament of Religions in Barcelona, and he hosted a panel about prayer and health in concert with Harvard Medical School, Duke Medical School, the Institute for Noetic Sciences (IONS) and others.

Moreover, Tom Zender has had a diverse career, working as a personal valet for John F. Kennedy during his Presidential Campaign, as an engineer on the fastest piloted production aircraft in the world, and as the president of a highly renowned theater group in Chicago's famous theater scene. He has given hundreds of presentations to conferences, associations, seminars, workshops, forums, and meetings on a wide variety of both business and spiritual subjects to audiences of over a thousand people, including his speech on international trade at the Los Angeles World Trade Forum. Tom’s speeches have appeared on tapes, DVDs, CDs and film. He’s been featured in articles and publications as diverse as the USA Today, Kansas City Star, Canada’s The Globe & Mail, the St. Paul Pioneer Press and Science & Theology. He has written several articles for the Unity publication Daily Word with a reader base of over 1 million across the world, in addition to dozens of internal publications and numerous technical works. He is currently authoring several books discussing the successful integration of spirituality in business, as well as inspirational words at work.

Tom Zender holds a Business Administration degree from Ottawa University, with focus areas of leadership, marketing, and information technology. He is married to Dr. Wendy Zender (Ph.D.) and currently lives in Irvine, California.
